Our Samaj history for Leicester, U.K goes back to 4th November 1962, when it was established and founded by Pramukh - Shri Jethalalbhai J Manani and his Executive Committee members - see below listing, under 1962. Our Samaj was then created as a small voluntary community group/gathering and called ourselves as “Shree Gurjar Kshatriya Gnati Mandal, Leicester, U.K”. Since 1962, our community has grown from the few households to over 400 households approximately. This change is ongoing. To reflect this ever changing populous of our community, on 26th June 2005 at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) & Entertainments function, Pramukh - Shri Nakulbhai Bhagwanjibhai Gohil and his Executive Committee members (see below listing, under 27 March 2005 to Current), tabled a proposal to make amendments to our community title. The majority by the general body members approved this in attendance. The title was approved and amended from “Shree Gurjar Kshatriya Gnati Mandal, Leicester, U.K” (GKG Mandal, Leicester, U.K - for short), to “Shree Gurjar Kshatriya Samaj, Leicester, U.K” (SGKS, Leicester, U.K - for short). Opportunity was also taken to update our previous constitution (Original Gujarati version as of 1962 – approximately 3 pages long and the English duplicate – approximately 5 pages long). Pramukh Shri Purshottambhai Anandbhai Solanki and his Executive Committee members approved the English version on 20th July 2003 – see below listing, under 2003. The newly updated constitution, which was also tabled and approved by the majority of our general body members of our community in attendance at our AGM, on 26th June 2005. Our community since 1962 has acquired milestone achievements and this can be seen and reflected by our humble members (as committee and non-committee members), who have served our non-profit making community on a voluntary basis. This can be seen to a small degree by the below listing of those who have served as Committee members since 1962. Did you know...
NOTE: From 1968 to 1985 we have no record available to us. However should anyone in our samaj (Leicester & London) have such knowledge then please do not hesitate to contact us, so that we can update our records. Thanking you in anticipation for your kind cooperation.
